No Tricks, Just Treats
What a Treat!
We had the opportunity to interact with thousands of Rochester neighbors at the Halloween at the Market event yesterday! Through games, giveaways and fun costumes, we were able to connect with potential patients and supporters on a personal level all while spreading the word about our services and locations.
It’s not too late for YOU to leverage Halloween for the good of YOUR neighbors. Here’s one of our favorite articles that helped us strategically think how to foster connections on this unique holiday.
Don’t worry, there’s still time to stop on your way home form work in order to grab candy before the kids ring your doorbell tonight!
This past month, our organization was able to sponsor World Relief WNY at the Global Neighbors Gala. World Relief works to come alongside refugees and other immigrants in vulnerable situations as they rebuild their lives in the United States.
Rochester, NY has a long history of involvement in the resettlement of refugees under the United States Refugee Admissions Program, with over 16,000 refugees coming to Western NY since 2002.
At the event, Ken Pitcher, Director of World Relief of WNY, shared that they’ve been able to help 75 families, mostly from Ukraine and Afghanistan, since opening their branch here in 2021, with a primary focus on three areas: housing assistance, teaching English and securing jobs.
.As we pursue the mission of serving the underserved, and as the refugee population in Rochester continues to grow in the coming years, we hope to help World Relief create a pathway for health and job opportunities for these individuals and families as needed.
We Ate Fries and Gained Dollars
Our Five Guys Fundraiser night in August was a success! The Five Guys team was blown away by how many people came through the doors that night, and because of that we surpassed their average sales which scored us the maximum of 15% of total sales for that evening. Our grand total received was $464.05!! Thank you for being a part of our delicious event, whether you showed up to eat or just helped us spread the word.
What’s Next?
Join the Rochester community for the most generous day of the year! ROC the Day is an annual, 24-hour giving extravaganza that takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, known as Giving Tuesday. Roc the Day gives people an opportunity to support all of the not-for-profit organizations doing great work locally. Visit RoctheDay.org for more info.
This year, Roc the Day will take place on November 29th and we’d love for you to start considering what you could contribute to help build up our Patient Assistance Fund this year. We already have a $1000 matching gift lined up to encourage greater generosity from our community! Be sure to follow our social media channels in the coming weeks to see how your dollars can be used to directly impact the people we serve.
HOPE for Every Neighbor
Our team has been assembling care bags filled with BOMBAS socks, t-shirts, and underwear. These bags will be shared with and distributed by our partner, Ibero-American Action League, to help and support climate refugees who have fled Puerto Rico to be with family members in Rochester following the effects of Hurricane Fiona this past September.
We will also have these stocked and on hand for our own patients in immediate need who utilize our Socks Room.
If you’d like to contribute financially toward these care packs, you can set up a gift HERE for our Patient Assistance Fund.
We’re excited to show love to our community through meeting these tangible needs!

Spot the Bus
If you think you’ve seen our logo passing by you on the road lately, you’re right! Thanks to an in-kind donation, His Branches has an ad on eight RTS buses all over the city. Have you spotted one yet?
Both of our locations are accessible by the bus line, the #17 to Arnett and the #6 to Bay and Goodman, so having greater visibility means greater accessibility for many of our patients.

Meghan interned with us over the summer. She was a part of the Nurse Practitioner program at Wegmans’ School of Nursing at St. John Fisher University.
On her final day Meghan shared, "I sensed how much the staff cares and works together to ensure patients have access to resources and how supported they made me feel."
Heidi, a senior psychology major at Roberts Wesleyan University, is currently interning with us this fall. She’s working with both our Behavioral Health and Case Management teams.
"I really love interning at His Branches! Everyone here is so kind and dedicated to their mission of serving the community, and all the departments are very connected, so I've been able to learn things from everyone, not just the departments I'm specifically working with."
If you or someone you know is interested in a student rotation, internship, or shadowing at His Branches, visit THIS page on our website to get more information and submit an inquiry.
